Yeager's Active Synthetic Vision (ASV) initiative offers improved situational awareness for "human-in-the-loop" automation systems. ASV provides a complete global view of the scene including 3D geospatial models of the environment, aerial and terrestrial imagery, symbolic overlays and dynamic sensor status -- all in a single context and updated in real-time.
Problem Solved: The human interface for automated systems must simplify operator tasks and automate processes such that cognitive workload is reduced, situational awareness is enhanced, and situational control is preserved. Conventional operator interfaces display 2D videos or images on separate screens, providing little integration of information, no high-level scene comprehension and weak situational awareness. |
